Our Purpose

The foundation exists to carry forward Christian’s legacy by protecting the dignity, safety, and humanity of people in custody and their families. Guided by Annette’s experience as a mother seeking justice for her son, the work focuses on transforming grief into advocacy, accountability, and concrete support.

The foundation advocates for transparency and reform in Nevada’s prisons, including investigating in-custody deaths, challenging abuses of power, and pushing for policies that prioritize preservation of life and meaningful oversight. It partners with families, lawyers, and community organizations to shine light on what happens behind prison walls and to demand that institutions honor their legal and moral duty of care.

At the same time, the foundation supports incarcerated people and their loved ones through education, resource-sharing, and guided participation in processes like parole and pardons, so decision-makers see the full story of a person’s growth and rehabilitation. Through outreach, storytelling, and community engagement, the foundation keeps Christian’s name connected not only to the injustice of his death, but to ongoing work that affirms every person’s capacity for change and every family’s right to safety, truth, and justice.

Christian’s Closet is a charitable initiative dedicated to supporting individuals reentering society following incarceration. The program provides clean, and season-appropriate clothing to recently released offenders free of charge, helping them restore dignity, stability, and self-confidence as they transition into employment, housing, and community life. Through this service, Christian’s Closet seeks to promote second chances, reduce barriers to reintegration, and foster a spirit of compassion and inclusion within the community. (By appointment only.)

Christian’s Shoe Drive continues a tradition born behind bars. While incarcerated, Christian organized a yearly shoe drive to make sure less fortunate offenders left with one essential item: a sturdy, appropriate pair of shoes. Today, the Christian Walker Re-Entry & Justice Foundation carries that mission forward—collecting new and gently used shoes for people returning from Nevada prisons and jails. Your donations help remove a basic barrier to successful re-entry, restore dignity, and support practical needs as individuals rebuild their lives. Join us in honoring Christian’s legacy by giving shoes, time, or resources to keep this vital tradition alive.

We help people quickly find reentry supports in their area, including housing, employment, legal aid, transportation, clothing, and other basic-needs services. It centralizes trusted community resources in one place so individuals and families impacted by the justice system can easily see what is available, how to contact providers, and how to access help when they need it most.
